Command and Staff Training Institute (CSTI)

History

Command and Staff Training Institute (CSTI) is a prime military institution of Bangladesh Air Force. Established in April 1983, CSTI now conducts Junior Command and Staff Training Course (JCSC), Individual Staff Studies Program (ISSP) and Squadron Commander Course (SCC). Junior Command and Staff Course started functioning in 1976. It provides professional military training to mid-level officers of BAF including officers of sister services and foreign countries to educate them both in command and staff appointment. Till today, this Institute has trained a total of 1381offrs, out of which 1141 offrs from Bangladesh Air Force and 180 offrs from our friendly countries like India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Jordan and Sudan. Rest 60offrs from the sister services ie BD Army & Navy.

The ISSP was introduced in 1980 as a correspondence course for officers to qualify for substantive promotion to the rank of Flight Lieutenant & Squadron Leader. In 2009, Squadron Commander Course (SCC) was introduced in BAF to develop management and leadership traits and skills amongst the potential squadron commanders. 105 JCSC commenced on 06 August 17.
