Dhaka, 18 September 2017: The launching of application software has been a ‘Dream Come True’ project for CSTI since long. After a year of brainstorming study and research, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar, BBP, ndc, acsc has launched the maiden indigenous application software ‘Horizon’ of Air Force Command and Staff Training Institute (CSTI) on 18 September 2017.
On his arrival at the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Guest was received by Air Commodore Md Shaharul Huda, afwc, psc, Officer Commanding, Command and Staff Training Institute (CSTI). During the opening address, Officer Commanding, CSTI gave a brief resume on the academic curriculums of Individual Staff Studies Programmes (ISSP). While reiterating the importance of education for military officers, he has informed that the institute is one of the pioneers of distance education in the country designed to educate young officers for the benefit of the service. Initially, such curriculums used to be carried out off-line through written correspondences and from now onwards, it will be conducted online across all BAF stations at home and abroad simultaneously, he added. Digitalisation is one of the defining characteristics of the contemporary era and CSTI being the most modern and state of the art training institute of BAF cannot remain behind the time in respect of technology, he continued. The Chief Guest, after launching the application software ‘Horizon’, has said that the CSTI has come a long way since its inception in 1983 by successfully materialising many decisions in different turnings of its illustrious travel. Such arduous journey reflects the true testimony of excellence of this prestigious training institute, he praised. He has also expressed his full satisfaction to know that an initiative has been taken to digitalise its total training curriculums of CSTI in future. At the end, he attended a ‘Book Fair’ and a photo session with all members of CSTI and invited guests. Senior officers of BAF and other guests were also present at the launching ceremony of software ‘Horizon’.
